Ditch the filtered pics

I’m not one to mince words so we’re going to get right into it. Stop posting old pictures or pictures that you took from “strategic” angles so you look 30 pounds slimmer or 10 years younger. You’re not doing yourself any favors.

Yeah, I understand that you want a guy to “want me for me,” but a false representation of yourself is deceptive and misleading. Even worse, it doesn't lead to good outcomes. In conversations with too many single men (both high-quality gentlemen and players), they said the same things:

  • What else is she lying about?

  • I might have considered if she had been honest

  • It was totally awkward and I just wanted to get out of there

  • I wasn’t attracted and it pissed me off that she’d do that

  • You won’t be taken seriously

  • Intentions changed when he saw her – MAYBE fun for a night. Maybe.

Sure, both men and women do it but we’re not getting into a battle of the sexes, we're going to focus on who you can control – you.

Here are some ideas for online pictures that don’t send the wrong message (bikini pictures anyone?) but are still flattering and represent you honestly.

Some do’s and don’ts:

  • Don’t post old pictures

  • By old pictures, I mean don’t post pictures more than a year or two old

  • Do post a full body shot but make sure it's tasteful

  • Post a picture of you engaging in one of your hobbies – honestly represent who you are, they're going to find out anyway and these insights into your life are what make you unique

  • Post flattering pictures as long as they look like you in person

Bottom line: make sure your date can tell it’s YOU.

A person will only value you as much as you value yourself.
